Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar has drawn continued scrutiny during her brief time in Congress, and on Wednesday, her hometown paper, the Minnesota Star Tribune, published a scathing writeup of her performance since being elected in 2018.
“US Rep. Ilhan Omar is back in the news again, and not in a good way,” wrote the paper, noting that Omar “continues to be dogged by past missteps.”
The paper pointed out that “this time, eight violations of Minnesota campaign-finance law” will cost Omar around $3,5000 in penalties .
Additionally, the paper went on to call Omar’s filings “disturbing,” noting, “further, she was legally married to another man at the time.”
“Omar’s political rise has been marred by a series of unforced errors,” continued the paper. “Every month seems to bring a fresh problem.”
